This how St.
Augustine summarizes the redemptive work of Christ.
Misery of Man, God's mercy
The miracle of Christ, who forgives sins and gives health,
which proclaims the mercy of God is stronger than man's misery. He proclaims -
even better, makes present - among men, the salvation of the Messiah foretold
by the prophets: the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame will run like gazelles.
He said to the paralytic, “Rise, pick up your stretcher, and
go home.” (Matt. 9:6)
You are just, O Lord, and your judgment is right; treat your servant in accord with your merciful love. (Ps.118)
