I share with you the end of today's reflection from Fr. Rohr;
As Jesus said, “the lamp of the body is the eye” (Luke 11:34). And the eye sees most truthfully when it looks out from that place where the mind and the heart are one.
As I sat ruminating on that statement I proceeded to look at Monday's readings and stopped to read the opening prayer for today's Mass;
Almighty God, our creator and guide, may we serve you with all our heart and know your forgiveness in our lives.
Here the opening praying addresses serving with our heart and know (can't we say that is the mind?)
Here's today's prayer after communion;
Lord, may the eucharist you have given us influence our thoughts and actions. May your Spirit guide and direct us in your way
Here again the prayer touches upon one of the two items, mind (thoughts).
I don't know but I think there is still something missing and that is the soul.
Mahatma Ghandi said, "Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.”
As I continue writing, I still think that there is something missing. What is it? Jesus tells us in Mark 12:30,
"And you shall love the Lord your God with all your HEART, and with all your SOUL, and with all your MIND, and with all your STRENGTH."
