32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (11-11-2007)

Today we celebrate Veteran's Day and the theme of the readings are resurrection. Resurrection is not to be confused with resuscitation, they are not the same. Resurrection to a new life is beyond our grasp. The Lord says it's like being angels.

As I prepared for the readings, two things struck me. One was from Psalm 17;

Keep me as the apple of your eye,
hide me in the shadow of your wings.

Just imagine being the apple of the Lord's eye and taking refuge in the shadow of His wings. That thought is very comforting.

The second was from St. Paul's second letter to the Thessalonians. He ends this passage with this wonderful prayer;

"May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the endurance of Christ."

Peace and Goodness to all.
