Naked Who-ness

To put it bluntly, no matter how much power, wealth, and appeal someone has they all look the same when they are sitting on the lavatory throne. Just picture Donald Trump or say the Queen, or choose whatever person you want; how much different then you do they look when they are in there?

Of all the religious rituals and practices I know of, nothing will lead us to that place of nakedness and vulnerability more than forms of solitude and silence, where our ego identity falls away, where our explanations don’t mean anything, where our superiority doesn’t matter and we have to sit there in our naked “who-ness.”

Yes, as Fr. Rohr mentions above when we sit and shed all our superfluous stuff and sit in what he calls “our naked who-ness,” that is when God has the chance to get through to us. All that other stuff tends to get in the way and distorts the true meaning of life.
