The Lord Is Good

“Everything Jesus does is good!”

This how today’s Gospel from Mark (7:31-37)  ends. After witnessing Jesus restore a man’s hearing and also removing a speech impediment the people bring forward the Good News by proclaiming that, “Everything Jesus does is good.” It reminds us of the passage from Genesis 1:31, “God saw that everything was good!”

O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Psalm 34:8

From the life of St. Scholastica, sister of St Benedict whose feast we celebrate today, we learn the following:

"God's love is so great that he wishes to give us every good thing. He is ever ready to hear our prayers: our prayers of praise and thanksgiving, and our prayers of petition, repentance, and intercession. Nothing is too great or too trivial to share with our Father".

For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5
